Hey everybody, I realize to a lot of you, this may come up as a wee bit of a shock, but Fun For Freedom has decided to make a permanent move back to the default Twitch.tv chat.
Through The Zeldathon Network we had used many different chat platforms, and at the time, Twitch chat was extremely buggy, slow and difficult to use. Since then however, Twitch recently switched over to their own dedicated chat server that has blown us away. The chat is now able to load as fast as the video player, is lag free and very sleek. We have always valued making things easy to use here at FFF, and we think switching back is a great step to do so.
IRC has been really great to us, but over time has presented its own faults that assisted in coming to this decision. For example, the ability for anyone to use proxies, or dynamic IPs allowed any skilled user to circumvent any bans we could do, quickly making it possible to allow any user to maliciously attack our chat. In addition, Twitch.tv was great in allowing us to use IRC on our page, but as of late the chat has been poorly implemented and it was noticed that it was making users less likely to stay on our page due to a chat that was abnormal and hard to use. Other faults include overly-complex moderation and the server we were forced to use having poor administration.
Now, for the power users we have ensured that the Twitch chat is still accessible via X-chat and other clients. The information is as follows.
