Towns

Introducing "Towns", a new way for the community to work together to further survive and thrive on the Minecraft Server.

What is a Town?
A Town is an official sub-community that works together to create a great-looking, stylized, in-game collection of homes. A Town will get special goodies to help them along their way and also to grow.

How do I make a Town?
To gain Town status, you must follow the following basic rules.

1. Set forth a Town Board
Image
A Town Board is a structure near the entrance to your town that lists the following information.

Town Name
Your Town Name must be short and easy to remember. Some examples include Rivercrest, Freedomville and New Grooseland.

Founder
The Founder of the town must communicate with the Town members to help them work to improve the town. The Founder DOES NOT get any privliges, they may NOT order you to tear down your house, they may NOT evict you from a town. A Founder does not have to be a single person, it can be any number of things. For example "Fans of Crumbleton", "MC Gamer" or "FFF Community"

Town Style
The Town Style is a set of guidelines to assist players to make houses that look great together. For example, list main blocks and highlight blocks, for example, in this photo:
Image
The main blocks would be: Smooth stone, Pine Logs
The highlight blocks would be: Wood and Stone Slabs

Be sure to communicate the Style well for your town to look good. Always be sure help newcomers to your town to create functional, beautiful houses that fit with the Town Style.

OPTIONAL:
Town Tasks
It may be useful to keep things to be done on the Town Board.
Notices
Need to tell your neighbors that you will be gone for a time? Need to tell your neighbors where an awesome cave is? Use the board!

2. Town Wall
Image
To become a town, you MUST have some sort of border around your town. While walls that fit with your Town's theme are very useful to keep everything enclosed and well-known, it is not necessary. However, there must be some indicator of your town borders, either through fence, block outline in the ground, or a moat. Find creative ways to ensure your town doesn't just blend with the normal landscape, make it your OWN landscape!

3. Road System
Image
In your town, you must have well constructed roads leading around your town. This will help you set out plots for the houses. Your roads should be kept well lit and connected to the entrances and exits of town.

What are the benefits of having a Town?

Blacksmith
Image
Once made a town, you will be gain a Blacksmith to repair your items. Be sure to save a spot for your Blacksmith's shop, or even better, build one beforehand!

Moderator Builds
Image
Occasionally, a moderator may help your town out by helping you build something, or even building something completely on their own, for example, a public Nether Portal!

Warp
Want people to easily be able to visit you? You will gain a warp of your town's name (/warp Rivercrest for example. ) that leads to your Town's enterance.

Town Events
In the future, we plan to have events in which Towns will have competitions. For example, the Town residents will go to war in an organized PVP tournament, or even have a decorate-off like making your town as SCARY as possible for Halloween.

Other
There are also lots of other potential benefits. Including other NPCs, gifts to help with construction as well as other seeeeeeecrets!

I did all that! How do I make my town official?

1. Submit it in this thread
Include the Town Founder, Town Name and coordinates (Find using F3 in-game) in your post

2. Wait patiently
We will be making sure that all Towns live up to our requirements and it may take a day or two to get your Blacksmith in place.

3. Once approved, make a Town thread!
Here in the Minecraft Server forum, make a thread titled "[TOWN] Rivercrest" - Replacing Rivercrest with your town's name. This should be submitted by one of the Founders.
In this thread, include any info that you have on your Town Board as well as a list of residents and also include screenshots.

End
Thank you all for reading, hope you have fun creating your Towns, we can't wait to see them and see them all starting to pop up, thanks!

I do not think a town wall should be a necessarily requirement. It is going to take me and anthonyx860 days to get all the sandstone to make the wall around our very large plans for our town, and it just will not look that good. We are set farther of from many other builds so that it looks like we are an exclusive town. Could it be that the rule is no walls unless verified by you?

Towns are cool but I'm personally not an huge fan of them. I just don't like the idea of an limited space for your house so no extensions for your house I mean. But on the other hand, I DO like working together and making something big like an church for an town or something :D

I think that it's pretty cool though I hope future official towns have better road systems :P
I could barely find a space for my town home (it's the mobile home-like house in the corner) when I was scouting out land :D

I personally don't like walls too much, as it's very intensive on resources, especially if it's not just a simple cobblestone wall like Rivercrest's wall is.

It does indicate that the local population is well settled and is capable of making the town look good though.

Glad you picked the name Woodfall, Krabby! Once I heard that as a possibility, I knew that it was perfect for what the town was.

MC! Me and Anthony got our town! We are the founders!

Town name? Mesa! Short. Simple. Awesome.

The walls/town area is the sand hills and water that surround our area. It gives us a clean, good look to our desert town.

X=275
Y=64
Z=205

Thanks!
